I am chasing your shadows
hoping for memories
memories departed
of a past that is not mine

Am I following your footsteps?
Am I all alone?
I am astray
in a maze of cobblestones

Everyone tells me you’d have loved me
but I don’t feel the future
all that’s left is ash
I’m looking for signs of rupture

Did you leave something behind?
Did you think of me?
Did you even like all of this?

I search for an island in an infinite sea
I am on a sinking boat
The past is the past
and this is all I see
